The breadth and depth of Digital Marketing that you may not know about

If you are either within a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship or are looking to join one, you either expect or have expected Digital Marketing to be generally restricted to posting on Social Media or creating Social Media adverts but this is not the case at all. Digital Marketing covers everything digital which is why I am here today to explain how wide of an industry it actually is and the wide range of things you can partake in as a part of it. Below will be some of the wide range of activities you can partake in as part of being a Digital Marketing Apprentice.

Social Media Management

To start with the obvious one, Social Media is a big factor in Digital Marketing. This covers everything Social Media, from managing the account activity such as posting, making stories, replying to comments, the number of followers and following you have and managing the general look of the social media page in itself. This is the area most people go into Digital Marketing before since most people have and enjoy social media in general and what to get into an industry of something they are interested about. This covers all the Social Media Pages you may expect such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube, LinkedIn and more.  

Website Building

Another aspect of Digital Marketing is building a website for the business. This includes all aspects for the website from the planning to the designing to the building of it and even the managing of it too. This is covered within Digital Marketing since it is on a digital system as well as of course all the marketing that goes around this new website which has been created. As such, you can partake in all aspects of the website from its creation to the marketing surrounding building up the website and opening it to new audiences. This also, of course, can cover any tools needed for the websites to be created such as WordPress, Simolvy or Canva for example.

Competitor Analysis

A big part of Digital Marketing is finding out what your competitors are doing and how you stack up against them. It Is a good way to compare marketing tactics and what you can do to improve on yours as well. This is where Competitor Analysis comes in. This part of Digital Marketing includes everything from looking up the adverts of competitors to see which ones are doing well, to measuring the SEO level of their websites as well. It can even include contacting the other competitors themselves to find out more information on what they’re doing as a business and finding out all their pricing too. A good tool for this can be any Social Media Pages and Websites they have a presence on as you can look at all of their information from there. You can also use a tool called Neil Patel which gives a stack up of the SEO of each website too.

Web and Social Media Analytics

Another part of being a Digital Marketer is the behind-the-scenes aspects to the marketing and how everything runs like clockwork in the background. This is where the web and social media analytics comes in. This part is where a Digital Marketer will analyse all the analytics and numbers from the websites and the social media posts and make decisions based on what it working for the business and what needs improvements. This can include views, clicks, likes, comments and the increase or decrease from previous posts or dates. This can interest people who are interested in why things may be working and why things may not be and are good with numbers too. Good tools for this include the Analytics Tools that the Social Media provide themselves as well as Google Analytics too.

Video Editing

One aspect of Digital Marketing that you may not realise is Video Editing. This is where all video adverts used on Social Media and on Websites need to be edited and created which is where the Digital Market comes in. As a Digital Marketer they will gain the videos needed within the advert and then edit them to add effects, titles, text and all the relevant information needed for the adverts to be informative and effective. This is also where you would cut the video down and edit the videos themselves too. Some good tools to use for this would be Photoshop, Premier Pro, Lumen and Filmora. This could interest a Digital Marketer if they would be interested in editing videos for a business and seeing results at the end of creation.

In conclusion, you can now see all the wide ranging of aspects available within Digital Marketing. Some of these you may not have known and could surprise you. It is not limited to this list however, as these are just some of the things you can do as a Digital Marketer as there are many things available.
