Looking for a career in digital marketing without wanting to go to university? You’ve come to the right place!
What is an Apprenticeship?
An Apprenticeship is essentially an entry level paid job. It is a great way for an individual to gain experience on the job whilst working in an industry that interests them. The way an apprenticeship is usually structured is – You will be expected to work within your team doing your day-to-day role 80% of your working hours during the week. The other 20% of your time will be focused on completing a Digital Marketing Level 3 course. These work hand in hand with each other. The more you learn on the job with your team, the easier it will be to understand the course. In addition the more bootcamps & webinars you attend in your 20% off the job hours, the more understanding of marketing you will have. And the best part is…….. you will be paid for all of it!
What is Digital Marketing?
Digital Marketing, uses a plethora of different digital tools to communicate to people. The simplest way to put it would be the promotion of brands to connect with potential customers using the internet and other forms of digital communication. This includes not only email, social media, and web-based advertising, but also text and multimedia messages as a marketing channel.
What to expect as a Marketer?
As a marketer you usually work as part of a team, reporting to your line manager (let’s call them Karen). This means working collaboratively, it is key that this is something a marketer can excel in as you will be doing this alot in order to strategically communicate when using digital channels. You will learn how to project manage, create strategies for campaigns, work & communicate with stakeholders & analyse data. You can use these real life experiences later on in life as you progress…… Something we can’t say about uni!
Benefits of taking a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship
1. No need for student loans
The idea of paying back a student loan is daunting to everyone! This isn’t the case with Apprenticeships. Your employer and the Government pay for your tuition expenses, so you don’t need to take out a loan. There is the added benefit of no student maintenance fee either because you will be on a salary by your employer.
2. Practical experience
As mentioned briefly before… Because you will be in work, you can apply what you learn from the apprenticeship straightaway in the workplace. The benefits of learning hands – on in your day-to-day role can be amazing if you are not the sort of person who likes to sit listening in a classroom all day.
3. Extensive academic and personal support
You’ll get a personal tutor from the Apprenticeship provider and a workplace mentor. Both will support and advise you throughout your apprenticeship. You’ll also get access to the apprenticeship provider’s student support services.
4. Get ahead of other graduates
Because you’ll be learning on-the-job with your employer, you’ll gain lots of experience to enhance your CV whilst studying for your level 3 apprenticeship. This gives you an advantage over University graduates from full-time courses, who wouldn’t have had as many opportunities to use what they learnt in the workplace.
