Main responsibilities of a Senior Culinary Apprentice:
Through carrying out your job role, you’ll meet the required competencies:
Learn to safely and efficiently use the kitchen equipment
Create and develop new recipes and products.
Do research to then create new dishes responsibly that will align with the company’s goals and visions.
Comply and meet the standards of the food safety management to ensure safety is priortised.
Work with suppliers and ensure the best of quality is given.
You will communicate with a variety of stakeholders within and outside the company; for example, board members, chef teams and suppliers.
Responsibility will be hold in maintaining the development and high level of standard of service for creating new dishes within the company.
This apprenticeship will help you grow and develop skills that will be vital within the job role. You will build the knowledge of nutrition and diet. Through researching and working with the client by communication, you’ll understand what visions and goals they want to achieve when planning with them. Communication will be vital as it is done internally and externally. Moreover, the skills of working in a team will be implemented. As a leader, you’ll handle to situations that will be under-pressure and guide your team. You must be willing to listen and grow, as taking feedback will be crucial as a senior culinary chef.

How long is the Apprenticeship for?
The course is only 24 months, which in comparison to a degree you can earn this qualification faster. The Senior Culinary Chef Apprenticeship is a Level 4 apprenticeship which is equivalent to an undergraduate’s first year degree/ a Higher National Certificate. What better way to earn a well-recognised qualification whilst earning a salary? The average salary for a chef in the United Kingdom is over £30k. As a senior culinary chef apprentice, you’ll have the advantage to earn a salary whilst qualifying and build your way up as well as gaining the experiences.
Can I apply?
It is important to have the qualifications of Level 2 English and Maths. For those who don’t have these qualifications, they’ll be given an opportunity to complete both of those before they reach the end-point assessment. For those who have their British Sign Language (BSL) qualification, it can be accepted as an alternative to an English qualification. Essentially anyone can apply!
