Town Planning Assistants work alongside chartered town planners whilst providing their technical and administrative support.
Town Planning Assistants are used in many sectors and industries, including planning, construction, architecture, infrastructure, environmental, and local government sectors. One of the main factors within the role is to develop and create sustainable places for the public.
During your role, you will always be exploring different environments as you will not only be working in an office, but visiting sites and meeting different teams. This is a great way to build social skills and learn more on the industry you are working in.
What does a week look like as a Town Planning Assistant?
You will:
- Reasearch and collate site history
- Assist Chartered Town Planners with community engagement
- Prepare reports using research and data
- Draw up plans that are needed
- Carry out data surveys
- Manage planning applications
- Review environmental and other specialist designations
